What is an Alliance?
Simply put, a local Destination Alliance is a cluster of businesses working together under a formal tourism cooperative structure to achieve economic goals, social goals or cultural goals that make a difference to tourism in their area of interest and directly to the lives of those involved.
Each Destination Alliance follows our proven Alliance Framework and is managed by a Leadership Team and a number of Champions. We provide support and resources as well as facilitation of the tourism cooperative to ensure it becomes an effective partner to the local tourism trade and remains sustainable for the longer term.
Alliance members are highly engaged local tourism businesses and organizations working together to add value and enhance the visitor experience in their destination.
Broadly by working together members enjoy:
- Increased sales
- Decreased costs
- A better quality of life
An Alliance is built on the foundations of Collaboration, Innovation and Leadership. It works in partnership with a local town or district Destination Marketing Organisation (DMO) or in areas where one does not exist operates as the local DMO.
An Alliance is normally centered around an area of interest defined by its business members based on a “Sense of Place” rather than an administrative boundary. In this way businesses and organizations can work more collaboratively with their neighbors’.
